Terms of Service
Last updated
These terms cover use of PTO Homeroom by parent groups and their members.
The service
- PTO Homeroom provides software for running a parent group: roster, communication, volunteer sign-ups, fundraising, payments and bookkeeping.
- The platform itself is free. A published platform fee of 2% applies to money processed through Homeroom, shown at checkout. Card processing is charged separately by the payment processor.
Accounts and eligibility
- Accounts are for adults — parents, guardians, teachers and board members. Do not create an account for a child.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your sign-in email secure.
- An organisation's owners decide who has administrative access and what each role can do.
Your organisation's data
- Your parent group owns its data. We hold it on their behalf and will provide an export on request.
- You are responsible for having the right to enter the information you enter, including information about other families.
- Do not use Homeroom to store information it was not built for — medical records, government identifiers, or anything similar.
Money
- Funds raised belong to the parent group, not to us. Payments settle to the organisation's own connected payment account.
- The organisation is responsible for its own tax status, charitable registrations and financial reporting. Homeroom produces records; it does not provide accounting, tax or legal advice.
- Refunds are issued by the organisation, through the platform.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Homeroom to harass anyone, to send messages unrelated to the organisation's purpose, or to break the law.
- Do not attempt to access another organisation's data or to probe the service's security without written permission.
Availability and liability
- We work to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
- The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.
Ending an account
- An organisation may stop using Homeroom at any time and take its data with it.
- We may suspend an account that is being used in breach of these terms, and will explain why where we can.
Changes
- We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced to organisation owners before they take effect.
Questions
Contact your parent group's board first — they control their own community's information. For anything about the platform itself, reach us at privacy@ptohomeroom.com.
